The role and the responsibilities of the Commissioner have been reviewed to reflect the successful harmonisation of Cyprus with community state aid rules and the accession of the Republic to the EU. As from 1st of May 2004, Community state aid law is directly applicable in Cyprus, while the main role of the Commissioner is to monitor its correct implementation by the Republic of Cyprus.
Our aim is the strict and effective application in Cyprus of Community state aid rules whose objective is the maintenance and strengthening of competition in the internal market, for the benefit, mainly, of European consumers.
Browsing our site, you will find information on the legal framework on state aid as well as the activities of the Commissioner. Moreover you can find all the decisions issued up to date by our Office.
I hope that the new website will prove to be very useful in providing up to date information to all authorities and individuals involved, while improving at the same time their communication with our Office.
